ENGLISH IN ACTION 2010
39 Students of the 3AHLT and 2ALT of the HLT Retz completed their English in Action Course on Friday 26 February.
This one-week intensive course of English was held by three native speakers from Britain, and the topic was "English for the tourism and leisure industry", comprising all relevant topic including presentations about countries and touristic enterprises.
Both, students and teachers were working very hard all the week and achieved wonderful results. The presentations they held on Friday were beautiful, fascinating, exciting, and entertaining.
Now we know the names of all islands of the Philippine archipelago, the most important financial figures about Dubai, how to survive in Colombia inspite of the Civil War, what Greenlandic sounds like and what treatments you can enjoy in Check Berry Hotel.
But not only that, students also presented their own ideas for companies, such as "Fast, Faster, Pasta" (very impressive), an ice bar, and they also presented a new pill against hang-overs. (We would need it tomorrow already, after our school ball..)
I was also extremely impressed by Nicole's introduction into the first phrases in Japanese.
Everyone did a really great job, and I am proud of you all and want to express my thanks to Rhiannon, Vincent and Kevin, and the "English in Action" company.
Though I could not be present in all lessons, this week has also been a great input and motivation for me as their "regular" English teacher.
Thanks also to my colleague Maria Schultes, who brought "English in Action" to our school.
Though there might have been moments, when the lessons were not easy work, I am sure the students will benefit a lot from the course with regard to their future jobs and, of course, their Matura exams.
Let's keep on working hard and "diving" into the fascinating English language...

PS. Thanks also to Maria Sackmann, who did a free tour of the cellar for our guests on Friday afternoon!!! and to the team of our practice teachers, who kindly lent our guests their staff room for all their paper - and administrational work throughout the week.
